The album's front cover resembles an overlook of New York City through an aeroplane window. It was designed by Mike Doud and depicts Kate Murtagh. She is dressed as a waitress named 'Libby', as a Statue of Liberty figure.

Libby is holding up a glass of orange juice on a small plate in one hand (in place of the torch on the Statue) and a foldable restaurant menu in the other hand, on which 'Breakfast In America' is written.

The background featured a city made from a cornflake box, ashtray, cutlery (for the wharfs), eggboxes, vinegar, ketchup and mustard bottles, all spraypainted white. The Twin Towers appear as two stacks of boxes and the plate of breakfast represents Battery Park, the departure point for the Staten Island Ferry.

The back cover photo depicts the band members having breakfast while reading their respective hometown newspapers. This photograph was taken at a diner called Bert's Mad House.The back cover photo is taken by Mark Hanauer

The background is yellow marbled and shows the track listst of side1 and side 2, and a plane flying to miss 'Libby'.

The marble structure returns on the sleeve which contain the lyrics of side 1 and 2 and information about the album. Miss 'Libby' also returns on subtle way on the vinyl label. On side 1 she's is shown from before and on side 2 from behind as if the plane has flown by.

Breakfast In America won the 1980 Grammy Award for Best Recording Package. It is well balanced and very colourful.

Supertramp are an English rock band formed in 1969 under the name Daddy before renaming themselves in early 1970. Their music is a combination of traditional rock, pop and art rock. The band's work is marked by the songwriting of founders Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson and the prominent use of Wurlitzer electric piano and saxophone.

Supertramp sold 60 million albums worldwide and had a number of major hits, including Hodgson's songs 'Give a Little Bit', 'The Logical Song', 'Take the Long Way Home', 'Dreamer', 'Breakfast in America', 'It's Raining Again', and Davies' songs, 'Bloody Well Right', 'Goodbye Stranger', and 'Cannonball'. Since co-founder Hodgson's departure in 1983, Rick Davies has led the band by himself.
