John Mayall & the Bluesbrakers - Bare Wires - 1968

After graduation at Manchester College of Art (now part of Manchester Metropolitan University), John obtained a job as an art designer but continued to play with local musicians. In 1963, he opted for a full-time musical career and moved to London. His previous craft would be put to good use in the designing of covers for many of his coming albums.

The artwork of the front cover of Bare Wires is a little contrieved. A closer look reveals the face of John while the lettering follows the profile of his face on the left. On the right side John himself is integrated. Nevertheless: the light- and colour nuances are very subtle. Look at John and you'll almost get contact with his thoughts.
