The complete Album Art of 'Point of Know Return' appeals to everyone's imagination, but is also full of recognition. It appeals to the era of the famous explorers such as Magellan and Columbus. Almost everyone knows about the stories of a time when people thought the earth was flat. For generations, there was that false notion that once someone sailed past the horizon they sailed over the edge of the earth. Facing monsters and facing death. Once over the edge they strongly believed there was a 'Point of NO return'. Nevertheless; the album title is 'Point of KNOW return'. How to deal with this pun?

The Album Art of 'Point of Know return' is fully based on the eponymous title track. Sailors are preparing and dealing with the uncertain questions of an Ocean Voyage.

'They say the sea turns so dark that - You know it's time you see the sign. They say the point demons guard is - An ocean grave for all the brave.
Was it you that say, "How long? How long? - How long to the point of know return?'

In fact the pun has to do with a change of perspective that shows up while exploring the sea. Sailors became aware that they did not fell of the world. Old myths were shattered and new perspectives created. They could not return to their previous viewpoint as they crossed the 'Point of know/no return'.

Sleeve

The Album Art of 'Point of Know return' is fully based on the eponymous title track. Sailors are preparing and dealing with the uncertain questions of an Ocean Voyage.

Kansas maintains this theme on the sleeve with the drawing of band members, the sailors of their own artistic voyage, navigation tools and other equipment. On the old book, a sort of captain's log, they wrote their complete voyage: the songlyrics of side 1 and side 2.

And maybe is our knowlegde even today 'just a drop of water in an endless sea'. Maybe all we are is nothing more than 'Dust in the wind'
